DECK Third Partner Meeting In Athens: OVERVIEW OF PROJECT PROGRESS

The third meeting of the DECK project took place on March 26th and 27th in Athens, hosted at the headquarters of the Hellenic Canoe-Kayak, SUP, Surfing Federation (HCKF). Representatives from the four national canoe federations, delegates from the School of Sport, and those from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies Pisa (SSSA) convened to discuss the project's progress.

The primary objective of the meeting was to provide partners with updates on the general administrative and financial aspects of Work Package 1, the completed tasks of Work Package 2, and the forthcoming steps for Work Package 3.

Throughout the meeting, the results of the environmental footprint analysis, conducted using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach, were presented. Additionally, a database containing best practices for the environmental management of canoe and kayak events was introduced.

Furthermore, the structure of the Sustainability Rating Tool (SRT) was presented, alongside the pilot events where the best practices will be tested.

One year after the Kick-off and the examination of 12 events, the project is starting to yield tangible results, underscoring the effectiveness of collaboration and the combined efforts of all involved partners.
