DECK - Sustainability Rating Tool

SUSTAINABILITY RATING TOOL (SRT) The SRT is a tool that aims to support sports organisations in the decision-making process regarding crucial aspects of competition organisation (such as choice of venues, choice of suppliers, choice of transport, etc.). The 'Sustainability Rating Tool' makes it possible to effectively assess how sustainable the set-up of processes and operations of a sports event is, and consequently, to analyse the distance to an 'ideal' performance from the point of view of the environmental sustainability of each environmental dimension. 9 environmental dimensions are identified: (1) Environmental Governance (General); (2) Accomodation, (3) Materials and Equipment; (4) Food and Beverages; (5) Mobility; (6) Waste management; (7) Resources efficiency (Waste and Water); (8) Biodiversity; (9) Communication, Reporting, Legacy.

SUSTAINABILITY RATING TOOL (SRT) SUSTAINABILITY RATING TOOL (SRT) HOW TO USE THE SUSTAINABILITY RATING TOOL (SRT) The SRT should be regarded as a 'to-do list' for realising a sustainable event. Its application is carried out according to the following steps: 1- Application of the tool takes place in two stages, pre-event and during the event. For each dimension, questions to be filled in pre-event and questions to be filled in during the event are indicated. 2-Answer the questions in each dimension by selecting from the drop-down list the answer you wish to give from the options provided (Result section). In some cases it may happen that the question cannot be applied to the event and the option 'Not applicable to the event' is given. 3-Fill in the notes section providing information on the question where possible. 4-Complete each dimension and the results will be available on the last sheet of the tool.

HOW TO READ THE RESULTS

The tacometer represents the final sustainability score of the event obtained by averaging the results of each environmental dimension. Depending on the result obtained, the performance of the event from an environmental sustainability point of view ranks between "Begginer" (0%-25%), "Concerned"(25%-50%), "Proactivist"(50%-75%), "Sustainable" (75%-100%). The table shows the % score of each environmental dimension and the final sustainability score of the event. The ideal performance, from an environmental sustainability point of view, should score 100%. The chart represents the score obtained by each environmental dimension and the red line represents the final sustainability score of the event. The SRT makes it possible to assess how far each dimension deviates from the maximum score (100%) and how far each dimension deviates from the event's sustainability score and, therefore, , to easily identify the environmental dimensions on which the event organisation is lacking and needs to intervene.
